Wishing I was in Taiwan

I would like to wish everyone a happy Double Ten Day (or 10/10)!

What is Double Ten Day? Double Ten Day is the Taiwanese holiday celebrated on the tenth of October which commemorates the start of the Wuchang uprising that led to the fall of the Qing dynasty in China. In short, this is Taiwan's "independence" day. Festivities are held in the capital (Taipei) in front of the Presidential Building. These festivities include the singing of the national anthum, the raising of the flag and a massive military prade accompanied by performances by representatives of Taiwan's minority groups. Following this grand show is an elegant party at the president's mansion and an impressive fireworks display.
Last year I was lucky enough to be invited  not only to the Presidential Building celebrations but the President's after party as well. This was truely a once in a life time experience and I am so glad that I am among the few foreigners that has been invited to join in this wonderful celebration. I hope that someday Taiwan will be able to celebrate 10/10 openly without fear of oppression from China!

Hey again~
Whoah, that looks like it'd be a really awesome event to attend. O.O Can anyone go there to watch? 'Cuz that'd be neat to see sometime. Even getting invited to the President's place? Wow. O.O It looks like it'd be a lot of fun, and it's probably not as hot this time of year in Taiwan as Independence Day here, so I'm sure it's much better. Besides, instead of just fireworks, you got to see all kinds of performances, so it looks like there'd be something for everyone to see. Sounds pretty amazing, though.
I hope you get to go again soon, anyway~

Unfortunately, I don't think I'll ever get the chance to see this again. Security is tight and very few foreigners are granted access to the celebration. The Presidents Building was fenced in with barb wire baracades and soldiers were all over the place. The only reason I got in/got invited to the president's party was that I was part of a student group who has a great reputation with the Taiwanese government. The leader of our group has been doing this for 20 years so they know they can trust him.

Hey I was just wondering if you got the payment from hinachan over the Newtype mags discussed here. She agreed to buy two from me and we established a shipping fee, exchanged addresses and Paypal, and a few days ago she told me she'd pay me when she got home.

Haven't heard from her since, and she won't respond to my emails asking if she's still interested. =P Just wondering if anyone else is having the same problem.

Psh. Knew it was too good to be true.

I left a comment on her LJ and she ignored that, too, even though she's been using her journal and replying to comments all along. So eh. I hate deadbeats.

This is the third person to do this to me this month >_< I'm really getting sick of it!

Good! She hasn't paid me though.....still hasn't responded to any emails or comments either.

But yea, I've had a LOT of people do that to me lately. Or they claim they paid and I never got the mail.

Hey. It's Red~. Sorry, I looked at your LiveJournal profile earlier and got your Aim name off of that. If it bothers you, I can remove it, since I didn't really ask, first. I just thought we could actually talk some more on Aim since we don't actually talk on LJ, since it's really more for blogging than chatting, anyway, I guess. But if it's troublesome, just tell me, and I'll remove it again. Anyway, take care, ok? later~
